Amie Allnutt
Amie Allnutt, a member of Redwood Artistic Club in Redwood City, is a Regional competitor in Sophomore Pairs with partner, Andy Minieri. Amie also competes freestyle events. A student at Del Mar High School in San Jose, Amie began skating only seven years ago when her mother started her in "star" (beginner) classes. She enjoys skating for the space and freedom she feels when she skates and for the opportunity it gives her to keep in shape while having fun. When not skating, Amie can be found hanging out with friends or participating in school activities.

Logan Boggs
Logan Boggs, of Pittsburgh, has been skating since 1985. With partner, Celeste Guzman, Logan is the reigning United States Champions in Junior World Class Dance and 1998 World Champion. After winning the World Championships, Logan and Celeste moved up a division for 1999 and have already started winning as Senior World Class Dance competitors. Originally, Logan started skating for health reasons. A family friend got him started and he found he enjoyed himself so much he has stuck with it and has had a tremendous amount of success - success at a price. In addition to long hours of practice, Logan often drives between one and three hours each way to practice and has to arrive at the rink, often long before the sun comes up, in order to get enough practice time on an empty rink (dance moves very fast and takes the whole floor and total concentration to keep in sync with the music and a partner). This doesn't phase him in the least - it's fun. "If it ever becomes a chore, I will stop. If it's not fun, why do it?" When Logan is not on skates, he is playing soccer, snow skiing, water skiing (at least one a week), or spending time in his car, a '69 Karmann Ghia with a good CD player, his pride and joy. If you asked him what happiness is, the answer would either be skating or the car, but what ever you do: "Don't call my car a bug!!"

Antoine Brooks
Antoine Brooks, a coach at Redwood Artistic Club in Redwood City, has been skating for "years," although, he declines to say just how many. During his competitive career, he made finals at Regionals and at Gold Skate Classics with his splashy jumping style. In addition to Artistic skating, Antoine played professional roller hockey with the Sacramento River Rats, and still plays for enjoyment and coaches. He also has started coaching Artistic skaters at Santa Clara. He is drawn to the concentration skating requires and to the challenge. He enjoys pushing the limits. When not on skates, Antoine can be found on a softball field, playing basketball or snowboarding - if it's a sport, he's probably into it.

Sam Cahn

Sam Cahn began dancing at 8 years old. Sam has appeared in numerous productions of the Nutcracker for Dance Theatre of Bellevue and in a production for Washington Academy of Performing Arts. He has also appeared in the Washington Academy of Performing Arts' Carmen and in its productions of the musicals, Cabaret, and On Your Toes, for which he was cast as one of the lead actors. Chew Home School
Under the supervision of Kathy Howald, the Chew Home School children get the opportunity to come in and take a class a month with the SkateWorld staff. The skating offers a welcome break from studying at home and an opportunity to interact with other children in a fun environment.

The Dancing Grandmothers and Neil

Under the direction of Cleo Stuckrath, with assistance from JoAnne Bunker, the Dancing Grandmothers and Neil have performed on several occasions, including most recently, at Santa Clara Women's League's annual event at the Santa Clara Community Center. Most of the dancers learned to dance or continue to work toward bettering their style through the Santa Clara adult education program. The dancers find that not only is dancing fun, and great exercise, but it can be something to take pride in and share, no matter what your age. Santa Clara Artistic Skating Club is honored to have them here dancing for us this year and applaud the members of this elite dance team: Joanne Bunker, Gloria Cauthorn, Mary Kay Cole, Inez Cruz, Ruth Daval, Rita Dietrich, Helen Dresser, Bernadine Fawley, Edythe Forsling, Jane Habura, Tom Howell, Doris Howie, Donna Jeler, Konnie Kane, Elizabeth Kothhoff, Pearl Murphy, Lucille Nagashima, Shirley Ogisaka, Terry Pappalardo, Suzanne Regul, Mary Roberts, Mary Santos, Dadie Snyder, Neil Snyder. Both are looking forward to the challenges of the new division for the 1999 National Championships. A student at Amador Valley High School, Celeste says her favorite part of skating is meeting people from across the USA and the world.

In her next, she placed 1st in freestyle and 2nd in Solo Creative Dance with her "Granny" program. As a result of the placements at the recent competition, Holly has qualified for the 1999 Regional Championships in several events. Of skating, she says she likes the challenge. "It makes me forget about everything else in the world and live in the moment… for the pleasure of skating." When not skating, Holly enjoys doing yoga and jazz dancing, and visiting friends at Santa Clara. Somehow she always keeps turning up here.

Aubrey Orcutt
Aubrey Orcutt, a member of Redwood Artistic Club in Redwood City, began skating at one year old with her parents who are coaches. Aubrey skates on both inline and quad-style artistic skates. The Family Przepioski
For those wondering: it's "pop - peer - ski." The family skates for Redwood Artistic Club in Redwood City. Christeen (Mom) says, "The family who skates together, has lots of fun together." Andrew, Josh and Robbie seem to agree. Christeen started skating when she was 12 after falling in love with a beautiful freestyle program. She stopped for 15 years, then picked it up again so she could get the boys involved in the fun when they were about four years old. She put them out on the floor in little plastic skates. Now, all three are competing at the Junior Olympic level along with Mom. At a recent competition all four family members placed 3rd or better to qualify for the 1999 Regional Championships. When not skating, the boys attend Kennedy Elementary School in Newark. Christeen helps run the family business, A.S.A.P. Printing, which she started 11 years ago.

Cassia Steele
Cassia Steele is a 3-time Regional Champion and a 2-time National Finalist. She came to Santa Clara to skate for fun, and somehow, found herself skating in our show (which we appreciate, by the way!). Cassia began skating when her Mom got her started at age nine. She immediately fell in love with the creativity and challenge of the sport. Her favorite disciplines are freestyle and free dance. Cassia is a student at Homestead High School and taking classes at De Anza College. She says she will probably retire from skating soon.
